Creative Book Design

I create cover designs, front and back, for books, magazines, booklets or brochures.

You can provide the images, or I can create a bespoke design with illustration, typography and photography work.

Book cover for "Sometimes at Night I Watched Myself in Candle-light" by Eve Rubin, featuring a watercolor illustration of a leafless tree on a yellow background with some blue and white at the bottom.
Book cover titled 'In Transit' by Brigid Brophy with a pink background and horizontal wavy stripes in light pink, white, and turquoise.

Open book with text about nautical star tattoo and a large black nautical star symbol on the right page, placed on an orange background.

Editorial, layout and typesetting

Layouts of inside text and images help make a project exciting, enabling you to engage the reader and share information clearly.

Different projects have different visual needs - from storytelling to data.

I will work with you to choose attractive typography, imagery and colour palettes. Designs can go to print and digital platforms.

Logo with the word 'ARCHIVE' written diagonally across three orange numbers 3 and 3.

Branding

I design branding for art organisations, creative industries, artists, writers, indie publishing presses, and small businesses. Logo takes on multiple shapes depending on who we would like to talk to, what we are communicating in our marketing campaigns.

Workshops

I’ve taught workshops on photography, design, drawing, digital art, zine making, and chess for many years.  I like to make my lessons a fun, enjoyable experience, giving the students space to explore themselves. With a background in art history,y I bring knowledge of many art movements as an inspiration.

D-M Withers, Lurid Editions

“Eva is a brilliant graphic designer with particular expertise in book design, photography, illustration (especially comics) and story-telling.
Eva has a unique ability to listen to client ideas, feelings and intentions for a piece of graphic design, translating them into tangible forms with vibrancy, clarity, originality and impact. Similarly, if you have a very specific brief, Eva can bring those ideas to life too.
Eva has passion, imagination, dedication and technical skill - all qualities you need to realise your project and feel like you are working with a safe pair of hands.
Eva is fun to work with, reliable and has exceptional eye for detail. Highly recommended!”

Sarah O'Mahoney, Author

“Eva’s amazing design and typesetting of my first book -Making Pink Lemonade- made the whole thing come alive and captured exactly the feel and look I wanted.
As for the suffragette coloured logo for my Good Being A Girl website, it sums up the brand. Eva listened and advised, and I felt very much part of the design process.”
